Welcome to a webpage dedicated to the BATAVIA COAST MINIATURE RAILWAY SOCIETY (INC) we are located located in Geraldton, just over 400km's north of Perth in Western Australia.

If you are in Geraldton head up to the Chapman River on the north side of town, drive in to Spalding Park on the banks of the river and you will see us on the hill above the playground. You can also see us from North West Coastal Highway just prior to the Chapman River Bridge.

We are OPERATING FROM 10.00AM to 3PM on the FIRST Sunday of each month.
Cost: $1 Children, $2 Adults

ENCLOSED FOOTWEAR IS ESSENTIAL FOR RIDES ON OUR TRAINS.

Opening Times:
We are open to the public the first Sunday of each month between 10am-3pm.
Please remember to wear fully enclosed shoes for rides to enable us to meet our insurance requirements.

From August through this second half of the year we have really started to move forward. Another storage container, new by pass tracks, station building with roof & verandah, and there's more to come.
7th Jun 2009May / June 2009 Steam Rundays (Updated 7 June 2009)
A first for us to have an all steam runday with Bill & Jenny Bagley's visiting Queensland Railway's BB18 1/4 steam locomotive assisting our two regular steam locomotives.

The morning started earlier at 8.15am with some special runs for the Geraldton Branch of the Variety Club who were the organisers of a motor bike fundraiser.

In addition Stuarts E30 shunter also had its first public appearance on our railway.

Our June run day featured Daryl's traction engine on display.

2009 has seen more work done on our station, brickwork is almost there and roof trusses etc ordered. In addition we have several loco projects nearing completion including two featured here.
9th Jan 2009Batavia Coast Miniature Railway Activities 2008
It has been a while since we have done an update, but as these photos show we are still very active. Behind the scenes the brickwork on our station building is just about complete and then real progress will be made towards its completion. More track is under construction as is another steam loco, a diesel outline loco and another traction engine. 2009 will see the society making real progress/ completion on several of these projects.

A few photos of our June runday, taken a bit later on of our few last runs after our passenger numbers had quietened down.

Our latest runday, quite a few passengers. We had time to take some of our younger crew through some training, plus for Geraldton in March look how green things are coutesy of some summer rain.

Our first runday for 2007, we ran the traction engine with its purpose built passenger wagon & doubleheaded Matilda & the Diesel The first time we have ran two locos together on the same train on a runday.
26th Dec 2006Evening & Night Run Saturday 23 December 2006
We combined our Christmas BBQ with a late evening/ night run, our very first.

Being our first so was a bit of a trial without members of the public.

The night runs also received an enthusiatic reception from passers by.

All in all a great time.
